My story
I learned the basics of floristry in Halifax's longest standing flower shop. After that, I worked in boutique West Coast floral studios and found my passion in natural floral design with the influence of my Turkish culture.
After seeing so many flowers thrown away, I started experimenting with dried arrangements. That’s when I discovered techniques to make dried flowers look just as stunning as fresh ones.Â
I started High and Dry Flowers, a Halifax-based florist studio specializing in dried flowers, to inspire people to see the beauty of dried flowers as I do. And to encourage sustainable practices in the floral industry.
My style
My style interprets nature's colours, movements and emotions. I use various flowers, foliage and grasses in my work.
My passion is to translate the wild movements of organic life to capture it into my pieces.
Its my desire to create unique, timeless pieces of art that will brighten up your space or put a smile on your loved one's face.
Sustainability matters
A seed takes months to grow into a flower that is then shipped across the continent to reach your space. It then only lasts a short time in your vase before it gets thrown away.
By drying flowers, I extend their life in your space for months. With proper care it can last even longer!
Most of my flowers are home grown or sourced locally. When necessary, I buy wholesale flowers and by drying them, I preserve their beauty for much longer.
As a local Halifax florist, I am also passionate about supporting women and minority-led businesses, and to support new moms, like myself, to take up entrepreneurship.
Fresh Flowers for Weddings and Events
Many people still like the look of fresh flowers.
I offer fresh flower arrangements for large events, such as weddings, funerals or parties. I do ask you to return them after your event so I can dry them and give them a new life in someone else's space (or yours!).
For bridal bouquets, we dry them free of charge, so you can have a longlasting memory of your special day.
I also offer free delivery and pick-up after the event. We are currently only doing wedding flowers in Halifax or Nova Scotia.
